What is Page Views?

A page view is recorded each time a page on your website is loaded or reloaded by a visitor. It is one of the most basic web analytics metrics.

Page Views Explained in Detail

Page views measure the total number of pages viewed on your website. If a user visits the same page three times, it counts as three page views. This differs from unique page views, which count each page only once per session. In Google Analytics 4, the event is called "page_view." Page views help you understand which content is most popular, how users navigate your site, and overall traffic volume. High page views per session indicate good internal linking and engaging content. To increase page views, improve your site navigation, add related content recommendations, use internal linking strategically, and create multi-page content like guides or listicles. Average pages per session across all industries is approximately 2-3 pages.
