What is Impressions?

Impressions represent the number of times your website appears in search results, ad placements, or social media feeds — regardless of whether someone clicks on it.

Impressions Explained in Detail

In Google Search Console, an impression is counted each time your URL appears in search results. In advertising, an impression is counted each time your ad is displayed. Impressions measure visibility — how many people saw your listing. The relationship between impressions and clicks gives you CTR (Click-Through Rate). A high number of impressions with low clicks indicates your title/description needs improvement. In SEO, increasing impressions means your content is being shown for more queries, while improving CTR on those impressions drives actual traffic. Track impressions in Google Search Console under the Performance report to understand which queries show your site most frequently.
